URBAN YOGA IN HAMBURG – 7 BEAUTIFUL YOGA STUDIOS IN THE HANSEATIC CITY
Yoga in Hamburg! Are you visiting the Northern Hanseatic city and looking for an extraordinary yoga course or a beautiful yoga studio in Hamburg? I'll show you where to find them!
Moin from Hamburg! I feel almost as comfortable in the Hanseatic city as I do in my hometown – not surprisingly, though, because Bremen and its big sister are very similar thanks to the seagulls, the proximity to the water and the typical northern German mentality.
Of course, everything in Hamburg is a bit more metropolitan, a bit louder and a bit busier, but on the whole, it is still pretty relaxed, easy going and, above all, neatly arranged – even in the Karoviertel or on the Schanze, which are both fairly popular especially amongst young and culturally interested people, you will usually always find a quiet place somewhere. However, if before the pub crawl, after sailing on the Alster or strolling through the busy Mönckebergstraße, the hustle and bustle of Hamburg becomes too much for you, you can simply retreat to one of the numerous yoga studios in the Hanseatic city.
And by the way: Most yoga studios in Hamburg offer their wonderful classes during the pandemic - with online yoga!

1. Urban Yoga Hamburg

Only a stone's throw away from Hamburg Central Station and in the middle of the St. Georg district, you can find the Urban Yoga Hamburg – the studio in which “Yoga meets the heart, Hamburg meets asanas and the city meets the typically northern German serenity”. How wonderfully said! Beginners as well as experienced yogis are welcome in the light bright rooms, and can choose between a variety different flow or yin classes. Particularly nice for all musical yoginis and yogis: From time to time, the studio holds mantra concerts, so that after (or sometimes before) the yoga practice, you can sing and make music together.

Don’t worry, you don't really have to: The Yin & Yang Flow, which takes place on Fridays and Saturdays, combines the two styles in a practical way and creates a wonderful start to the weekend as the lesson begins dynamically and powerfully and end gently and calmly, so that, hopefully, you feel in perfect harmony with yourself and can then start your stroll or exploration tour through Hamburg!

4. monkeymind Yoga

Almost right in the middle of the exciting and stirring Schanze, you can find the wonderfully bright monkeymind yoga studio by owners Sophia and Sonja. Almost ten years ago they opened their heart project and after what they themselves say was a chaotic initial phase, they have long since turned into a charming and modern yoga spot in the heart of Hamburg. The girls from the team are all so down-to-earth, open and warm that you immediately feel relaxed and comfortable on your mat in the “holy halls of the monkeymind”. In the mornings and afternoons, you can choose between Yin and Vinyasa classes or, depending on your level, look forward to one of the workshops – how about, for example, a Twist & Bind course to loosen all blockages and tension after a walk through Hamburg?

In the true sense of the word, you can find really damn good yoga without any dogmas whatsoever in Rotherbaum, almost exactly between the Schanze and the university district. In here, you can actually practice all day long as the bright loft-like studio offers classes for inexperienced new yogis and advanced learners from the early morning to late evening. Those who make it out of bed early can take part in the Early Bird at 7 o'clock, ground your lunch break with a Yin Yoga session or end the day with Yoga Nidra in the evening. Sounds good? The studio with the enchanting name has its focus on the powerful and dynamic Vinyasa Flow – and they start early! From 7:30 a.m. you can flow throughout the entire day and either start the new day full of energy or ring in the end of the day with a more calming (but still pretty sweaty!) practice. 7. Yoga an der Alster

Admittedly, Hamburg is not exactly known for sunshine and warm summer temperatures – but if you‘re lucky enough and catch some sun during your time in Hamburg, I can definitely recommend Yoga an der Alster! As the name already suggests, the studio is in the immediate vicinity of the Alster (and only a few steps away from the main train station) and is therefore perfect for outdoor yoga classes. Therefore, many classes are offered on the dock or directly on the boat and are thus completely surrounded by water - for a particularly relaxing short vacation in the middle of the big city! And if it should rain, don't worry: The yoga practice in the loft is actually just as beautiful.
